Account books, membership lists, meeting minutes, ephemera and other records of the Massachusetts Charitable Mechanic Association in Boston, Mass. The Mass. Charitable Mechanic Association was organized to promote mechanical arts and provide charitable assistance to mechanical artisans. Includes biographical information of early members, 1795-1872; special fund records for construction of a Benjamin Franklin statue and Mechanics Hall, 1854-1896; records of the related Paul Revere Association, 1891-95, Committee on Trade School, 1903-16, and the Mechanic Apprentices' Library Association, 1832-35; and ephemeral scrapbooks containing broadsides, newspaper clippings, meeting announcements, and other memorabilia, 1801-1955. Collection also includes account books, meeting minutes, and a membership list of the Associated Housewright Society in Boston, Mass., 1804-37, which dissolved in 1837; photographs of the Trade School and Exhibit Hall, 1917-24; a video produced in 1995 to mark the anniversary of the Mass. Charitable Mechanic Association; and printed material, 1844-1995.
